As we continue this exploration, Prichard has identified several experts in equity that will share their perspectives on where we are in the Bluegrass and where we need to progress to improve equity outcomes.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Our final interview is with\u00a0Dr. Jessica D.\u00a0Klanderud\u00a0(Clan-der-rude). Dr.\u00a0Klanderud\u00a0is the Director of the Carter G. Woodson Center for Interracial Education and an Assistant Professor of African and African American History at Berea College.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dr.\u00a0Klanderud\u00a0stated: \u201cWhen we think about\u00a0the variety of learners that we have in the classroom, whether it be at the Pre-K level all the way up to higher ed, everyone needs to hear their story in a way that they can respond to.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">She received her master\u2019s degree and Ph.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University where she studied African American History, American History, Comparative Slavery, and the History of Poverty in America. She is currently working on a manuscript entitled,\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Struggle for the Street: Social Networks and the Struggle for Civil Rights<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, a study of formal and informal social networks and power on the streets during the Civil Rights Movement in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 Her research focuses on neighborhood street-level dynamics of class and race as African Americans defined their own spaces in the 20th Century.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video media_url=&#8221;https:\/\/youtu.be\/_dP5Id3WxNs&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Klanderud is the Director of the Carter G.
