Looking at four-year changes, white students, students without disabilities, and students not eligible for free or reduced-price meals saw significant drops in\u00a0 4th<\/sup> grade reading results. The percent of students meeting or exceeding NAEP proficiency standards has declined from 40% in 2015 to 38% in 2017 to 35% in 2019, and the drop from 2015 to 2019 is statistically significant. Results for\u00a0 8th<\/sup> grade reading and\u00a0 4th<\/sup> and\u00a0 8th<\/sup> grade math did not show significant change.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text animation=”slideInLeft”]In response, Prichard Committee Executive Director Brigitte Blom Ramsey stated, \u201cToday\u2019s NAEP results provide further evidence that Kentucky\u2019s educational progress has stalled, with the\u00a0 4th<\/sup> grade reading results suggesting we are\u00a0 moving backward in critical areas. We must stop the decline and return to a place of progress in educational outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n
