On Monday, the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence’s Groundswell Initiative will kick off a series of meetings aimed at helping Kentuckians explore how to pave the path to a larger life through education. There are five Groundswell Gatherings scheduled for this week, and a goal has been set to host 50 gatherings across the Commonwealth in 2020.

“Every community has a unique story to tell,” said Prichard Committee President and CEO Brigitte Blom Ramsey. “Many things contribute to the success of a community, and research shows that  a primary component is a high-quality education system that supports each and every learner.”

During the Groundswell Gatherings, participants will discuss local school district test scores, as well as area health and employment data, all of which are included in Community Profiles which the Prichard Committee compiled. Click here to find a Community Profile for your region.

“The full story of your community cannot be told by numbers alone – it must also be told through the stories and experiences of all the people who live there,” said Blom Ramsey. “This profile is meant to be a guide to help you and your neighbors explore how to step forward and change the future of your community.”

Groundswell Gatherings will be held in the following locations this week:

  • Monday – Stuart Academy in Louisville
  • Tuesday – Foster Adoptive Support Network in Grant County
  • Wednesday – Dry Grounds Brewing Company in Paducah & The Fuzzy Duck Coffee Shop in Morehead
  • Thursday – Bracken County Library
