AUGUST Connections – 8/17/2021
01. For Families
Make it a point to email and introduce yourself to each of your child’s teachers before the end of September. Include your name, how you like to be contacted and any other information you think would help your child(s) teachers support your child’s learning.
02. For Educators
Elementary – In your opening paperwork ask more personal questions about families’ hopes and dreams for their children this year. Ask where you hope they will grow most and what you should know about their personality and unique strengths as a learner.
Middle and High School – Place notecards on desks and ask students to write their name, favorite snack, their favorite show, and any other simple personal question. Make a point to grab two cards a week throughout the school year and connect with that student based on their answers.
03. For Building and District Leaders
Make welcoming phone calls to ALL families within the first month of school. Middle and high schools can use a homeroom teacher approach. Tip sheet here.
04. Upcoming events
Tonight at 8 pm- Family Room (Zoom). Parents talking to parents about education issues. Build your connections with other Kentucky Parents. Register here.
