Kentucky Community Schools Initiative Updates March-April 2024:

  • KCSI districts collectively held over 20 community meetings with over 700 participants from January to April 2024 in order to co-design school action plans and share ownership of student outcomes. School Action Plans and budgets are due for all 40 KCSI schools by May 30, 2024. 
  • Build Her Crown, a KCSI initiative at Owensboro Middle School led to a 60% increase in attendance and 60% decrease in behavior incidents for students involved in the self-esteem small group since January 2024.
  • As part of the KCSI, Clearfield Elementary in Rowan County recently partnered with the University of Pikeville to offer free eye exams to students. 
  • All KCSI State Coaches are getting certified as Results Based Accountability Professionals and all KCSI District Directors, FRYSC Coordinators, and Prichard Committee staff will receive Results Based Facilitation training in April.
